The Binfield Bake Off 2018

Back for its third year; we love the Binfield Bake Off! This year we are challenging the adults to make a Victoria Sponge Cake and we have a competition for the children to make and decorate 6 cupcakes – yum!

There will be prizes for the winners.

It is £3 per adult entry and it would be helpful if you can email us to register to enter, but you can just enter on the day.  This competition is open to amateur bakers only.  50p per child entry.

Guidelines:

  • No entrant’s names must be evident on the presentation table.
  • Present your entry on Saturday 8th September at St Mark’s Church between 10.30am and 1.00pm. You will be given a number and a space to put your entry.
  • Judging results will be announced at 3.00pm.  With many thanks to the ladies of Binfield Women’s Institute for being our judges this year.

 

The Binfield Bake Off  – Baking Competition

 

Victoria Sponge Cake

Bake and present a cake using the recipe below. To be presented in your numbered space. The cake will be cut and tasted by the judges.

Please include a detailed recipe card with method statement together with a list of any other ingredients used.

 

Guidelines

Perfectly baked cake, not to include any other flavouring in the cake mix. No other raising agent to be used. The cake can be filled or decorated with any flavouring including jams, fruit, curds, buttercream or fondant.

The cake should be of two or three layers.

Appearance, texture, taste and moisture will all be taken into account.

No names must be evident on the presentation table.

 

Ingredients

200 grams  butter
200 grams  caster sugar
200 grams  self raising flour
4  medium eggs
