Today we are mourning the passing of the Queen and the Head of our Church. More than this, we are mourning the passing of a lady who showed us how to live humbly and in great faith and service. We join in the nation’s prayers for her, her family and our country, and especially for Charles as he prepares to become King.
Opening of All Saints’ Church:
For those wishing to visit All Saints’ Church for quite prayer and reflection, the church will be open at the following times this weekend:
Saturday 10th: 10am until 4pm
Sunday 11th: 10am until 4pm.
You will be able to hear the bells ringing for the proclamation of King Charles III at 9am.
The Book of Condolence will be moved from the Parish Council Office for this weekend to be at All Saints’ (apart from during the Memorial Gathering noted below), and available for all to sign. Flowers may also be left at the alter if you so wish.
Sunday Services this weekend:
This Sunday, the 8:15am and 9:30am Church services will be run as usual at All Saints’.
The Church Fete which was due to be taking place between 11-3pm at St. Mark’s Church has now been cancelled.
Instead at this time (11-3pm), a Memorial Gathering will be held at St. Mark’s Church. The Binfield Community Choir will be singing at 11:15, followed by a short service will be held beginning at 11:30am, and after the tea tent will be running as planned, offering free refreshments. If you had baked any cakes for the Fete, we would be grateful if you could still take them along, any time from 9:30am.
The Book of Condolence will be taken down to St. Mark’s during this time.
Next Week:
We would like to continue to offer All Saints’ Church as a point of personal retreat and prayer. In order to do so, we would like to arrange a rota to cover the opening.
Please get in touch with Michael Hawkins at michaeljhawkins1@gmail.com as he will be coordinating this.
We will need time to grieve and to share our grief with others. This will be a season for deep reflection in the life of our nation as we look back in thanksgiving and forward in hope.
